Consultant Allen Villarrubia Honored Nationally as Louisiana’s State Star

The LSBDC proudly announces Allen Villarrubia as the 2011 Louisiana State Star. Villarrubia, a Business Consultant at LSBDC Greater New Orleans Region, was honored during a reception held in conjunction with the ASBDC’s 31st Annual Conference in San Diego, CA

“It’s definitely an honor to receive this award,” said Villarrubia. “Helping people either start or expand their business is certainly a humbling and uplifting experience. It has been a privilege to assist in the economic development of Greater New Orleans.”

“Allen has been a tremendous asset to the LSBDC,” praised Mary Lynn Wilkerson, LSBDC State Director. “He is a true go-getter with a strong commitment to small business, which he has proven through his work by consistently meeting or exceeding his goals.”

Villarrubia was chosen for being an exemplary performer, making significant contributions to the LSBDC program, and showing a strong commitment to small businesses in the state. In the 3 years he has been with the LSBDC, Villarrubia has been responsible for starting 31 businesses, helping them access more than $10 million in capital to create 73 new jobs and save 218 jobs.

Earlier this year, Villarrubia was the recipient of the prestigious LSBDC “Three Million Dollar Club” award which recognizes recipients for helping their clients secure three million plus dollars in loans, equity, and other capital. He also received the 2010 Startup Superstar award, which recognized him as having the most business starts among LSBDC counselors.

“Allen is extremely focused on results. He works tirelessly to assist small businesses in accessing capital and has successfully helped small businesses in our area access the capital needed to either start or expand their business,” said Carmen Sunda, LSBDC GNOR Center Director. “We are extremely proud of his work and accomplishments.”
