NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

LSBDC Director Receives Global Business Professional Certification

The Louisiana Small Business Development Center is pleased to announce that Jim Kilcoyne, Center Director for the LSBDC at Northwestern State University has received professional designation as NASBITE Certified Global Business Professionals (CGBP).

Kilcoyne, who is also a Certified Business Advisors, is one of only three CGBP’s in Louisiana. He will provide specialized assistance including counseling and training to small and medium sized businesses interested in developing or expanding their export business opportunities.

NASBITE CGBP, the only professional credential for international trade professionals in the United States, provides a benchmark for competency in global commerce. The CGBP designation demonstrates an individual’s ability to conduct global business including Global Business Management, Global Marketing, Supply Chain Management, and Trade Finance.

The LSBDC increased its international trade efforts as a direct response to the National Export Initiative, a government-wide export-promotion strategy, which aims to increase exporting opportunities for small and medium sized businesses.

Through no-cost confidential counseling, the LSBDC can help new-to-export businesses become “export ready.” Services are also available for experienced exporters interested in pursuing new opportunities. LSBDC International Trade assistance includes assessing export readiness, developing an export strategy, financial planning, identifying available programs and resources, and international risk management planning.

For more information, to make an appointment, or for a list of upcoming training events, visit the LSBDC website at http://www.lsbdc.org
